In an interview on Accra 100.5 FM on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, Mr. Isaac Donkor, the National Chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Universities of Ghana, stated that if the University of Cape Coast management fails to adhere to the agreed conditions of service for senior staff as per the Labour Commission, they will declare a nationwide strike in solidarity.

Donkor expressed concern over the condition of service for members on the UCC campus, noting that the management of UCC is interpreting the laws governing public universities to their advantage.

The national leadership is unhappy with the delay in resolving pertinent issues regarding its members, such as the payment of allowances on public holidays and weekends.

Donkor stated that what is happening on the UCC campus is disheartening, adding that public universities cannot be run at the expense of workers.

He also noted that issues and grievances, such as negotiated allowances and the condition of service for members, promotion of members, and inclusion within the senior staff rank, have not been addressed by management since last year.
