UK redlist: Why nurses can still travel to UK to work
David Tenkorang, the General Secretary for the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association, has stated that the UK’s red list does not prevent Ghanaian nurses from seeking work opportunities abroad.
He explained that individual nurses who wish to work in health facilities in the UK are still able to do so.

Despite the UK government’s announcement that Ghana is among the 54 countries not actively targeted for recruitment by health and social care employers in the UK, Tenkorang believes that the UK and other developed countries will continue to recruit health workers from Ghana and other countries on the red list.
The UK government’s revised code of practice for the international recruitment of health and social care personnel in England included the announcement of the red list for health workers’ recruitment, which includes Ghana and Nigeria.
