Six People arrested for attacking a Police Officer

Six people have been detained by the police after an officer was attacked on Friday, April 7, 2023, at the Wono Akotsosu checkpoint in the Kumawu District of the Ashanti Region.

According to a preliminary investigation, the suspects, Edward Boateng, Evans Addo, Yaw Kusi, Michael Owusu, Yaw Boateng, and Emmanuel Mensah, along with two other people who are currently on the run, were traveling in a taxi after returning from a prohibited bush hunting expedition when a police officer stopped them for a routine inspection at the checkpoint.

However, the suspects jumped on the policeman and severely beat him in an effort to stop him from looking into their car.

As soon as the Police were alerted to the incident, they swooped in and detained five of the perpetrators, while two managed to flee.

Along with one of the suspects, the victim police officer, who suffered a knee injury, was taken to the hospital where they are currently receiving medical care.

All of the suspects are currently in custody, and attempts are being made to apprehend the final suspect so they may all face justice.
