Shatta Wale fails to show up at Hogbetsotso concert
Dancehall artist Shatta Wale‘s fans were let down when he did not appear at the Eli Beach in Tegbi on Saturday as scheduled.
Empty bottles were thrown into the stage by the clearly enraged Shatta Movement (SM) supporters, who had arrived at the beach as early as 1900 hours.
They showered the MC and DJ with plastic chairs and sand-filled bottles at around 0400 on Sunday when the stage was vacant and there was no music, despite the MC’s assurances that Shatta would perform.
In anticipation of the self-proclaimed Dancehall King, some local musicians, like burgeoning rapper Chief One, had already wowed the fans with some of his previous releases.
The disappointed fans, whose expectations had been so high, sang along to a few of Shatta Wale’s songs that the DJ played back-to-back for five hours.
Shatta Wale fanatic Perfect Ativor waited until things became rather turbulent, forcing her to flee for safety despite all signs that his favorite performer would not be there.
Shatta Wale’s disgruntled supporters toss chairs onto the stage to express their displeasure.
She expressed her anticipation that Shatta will attend the event after seeing a video of him asking his followers to anticipate him at the #HogbetsotsoZa concert online.
The musical performance was part of the 60th Hogbetsotso Festival, which featured a great durbar of Chiefs and the populace at Anloga and was organized by Ebony Condoms and Onua TV.
While speaking under the condition of anonymity, one of the organizers said, “Shatta is present, but it is yet unclear why he skipped the event grounds. However, it is not shocking and is not the first time he has treated his supporters so poorly.”
“Shatta Wale, who has been quite critical of the Ghanaian music industry, is also the same person who does not show up for events for which he has been scheduled to appear. It is time for someone to let him know that what he is doing is really disrespectful “Mawuli Torgbor, who had come from Aflao to Eli Beach, expressed disappointment in the teacher.
“Shatta and the organizers must be sued,” said another fan as they stormed out of the beach area.
Although the reason for Shatta Wale’s absence from the event is unknown, it is clear that his Anlo State supporters are upset.
