Scores feared dead in accident on Kpong-Tema road

In the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region, a car accident on the Kpong-Tema route has left several people believed dead.

At the government hospital in Akuse, two people who are reportedly alive are receiving medical attention.

A Hyundai Mini Bus with the registration number GB 4644-20 and an articulated lorry with the registration number GT 6473-21 were both involved in the collision.

According to a witness, the driver of the Hyundai minibus struck a Kia Grand Bird Bus with the registration number GW 6464-22 that was stopped in the road before driving off the road and colliding with the articulated truck.

While the truck carrying pavement blocks was traveling from Tem to Akosombo, the driver of the Hyundai minibus was traveling from Juapong to Tema.

Rescue attempts were aided by personnel from the National Ambulance Service, Ghana National Fire Service, and Akuse Police Command.

The morgue at the government hospital in Akuse is now home to the bodies.
