Police beef up security at Kenyasi after death of one person

A day after one person was killed and four others were injured in a fight between youth and duty officers working at Newmont Mining Limited, security has been stepped up at Kenyasi in the Asutifi North District of the Ahafo Region.

The teenagers, armed with a variety of weapons, ran through the streets late into the night, torching two cars, damaging another, and destroying property.

Police were able to calm people down and are now keeping an eye out to protect the peace.

According to sources, members of the newly formed police unit and counterterrorism unit stationed with Newmont got into a fight with a motor rider, who shot one person dead during the conflict.

Four additional persons were shot as a result of the young uprising that his death precipitated.
