Otumfuo secures US scholarship for Ghanaian students
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has secured a scholarship deal for Ghanaian students to study at the University of Memphis in the United States.
The agreement allows qualified Ghanaian students to pursue bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees at the university, with a focus on STEM courses.
The Ghana Scholarship Secretariat and the University of Memphis signed a memorandum of understanding outlining the implementation procedures for the scholarship.
The Asantehene initially requested scholarships for students from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology but later expanded the program to include more Ghanaian students.
The agreement aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry by providing internship opportunities with global brands headquartered in Memphis.
The scholarship will be advertised soon, and accepted students will start their studies at Memphis University in September 2023.
The Asantehene’s leadership and commitment to education have been praised, and gratitude is expressed to Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh for his support.
The Ghanaian delegation inspected the university’s facilities after signing the MOU.
This agreement provides a significant opportunity for Ghanaian students to pursue higher education in the USA and gain valuable experience in their fields of study, while promoting international cooperation in education.
