Otumfuo destools chief of Asante’s famous Antoa town
The King of the Asante people, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has commanded the removal of the chief of Antoa, a well-known town within the Asanteman region.
Nana Kwame Owusu Agyeman, who has held the position for more than two decades, is accused of disregarding customary protocols by appointing his nephew as his successor during his lifetime.
Furthermore, he is alleged to have engaged in the unauthorized sale of land on multiple occasions.

The ruling by the Otumfuo was pronounced during a gathering of the Kumasi Traditional Council on Monday.
The necessary rituals for the destoolment process have commenced promptly.
Antoa, the town in question, is renowned for its river deity, Antoa Anyaman Bosom, which is known for delivering immediate justice.
The Antoa shrine is widely recognized in Ghana as a sacred place for taking oaths, where individuals involved in disputes seek resolution.
Additionally, Antoa is a site where rituals are conducted to seek relief from the obligations tied to oaths made before the deity.
