Otto Addo resigns after Ghana was eliminated

Following Ghana’s elimination from the World Cup group stage, Otto Addo has resigned as their coach.

In February, the 47-year-old former Ghanaian international took over as manager after Milovan Rajevac was fired. His contract was extended through the end of December.

He also serves as Borussia Dortmund’s talent coach in Germany.

Even if we won the world championship, he said, “I always said if we qualified for the World Cup, I’d resign afterwards.”

Between losses to Portugal and Uruguay, Ghana defeated South Korea in Addo’s final game to finish last in Group H.

Football can be both beautiful and ugly at times. Today is ugly for us. We must learn from this, and I have no doubt that we will in the future, he said.
