NPP to hold presidential primary on Nov 4
In Ghana, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has declared that the presidential primary election to choose the next president to succeed Nana Akufo-Addo will take place on November 4. Due to term restrictions, Akufo-Addo, who has been president since 2017, is ineligible to run for reelection.
Following their executive meeting, the party’s general secretary delivered the news. A press conference for the party leader is set for April 4, 2023. He declared that the party is committed to making sure that the primary process runs smoothly and transparently and results in the selection of a capable candidate who can help the party win the 2024 presidential election.

Many contenders have already declared their candidacy for the 2018 nominations, in addition to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and former Trade and Industry Minister Alan Kyerematen.
Since the NPP won the 2016 presidential election, it has been in power. In the forthcoming election, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the largest opposition party, would provide the party with fierce competition. The NPP’s chances of remaining in power in 2024 will be heavily influenced by the choice of a capable candidate to serve as its leader.
