My dream is to be like Asamoah Gyan- Antoine Semenyo

Black Stars forward Antoine Semenyo has acknowledged that Asamoah Gyan, a former captain of the team, is a major influence on his way of playing.

The Bournemouth winger scored the game-winning goal against Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium in Chris Hughton’s debut match in command of the national team, making him Ghana’s (AFCON) qualifying hero.

Asamoah Gyan scored Ghana’s last goal against the Palancas Negras in 2010, during the quarterfinals of the AFCON, which was held by Angola, before Semenyo’s goal at the Baba Yara.

During the former Sunderland player’s glory days in major competitions for Ghana, Semenyo has been a big fan of him. He was thrilled to be the next to score against the same opponents after Gyan revealed that.

“I used to follow him when he attended AFCON and World Cup events.

I aspire to be just like him because he was such a big player, Semenyo told GhanaWeb.

The 23-year-old player, who signed for Bournemouth in the English Premier League during the January transfer window, has appeared in eight games for coach Gary O’Neil but has yet to score.
