MoMo vendor kills himself over ¢3,500 missing money at Assin Kruwa

The lifeless body of a 22-year-old young man named Abdul Rahman, who had been missing for several days, was tragically discovered hanging from a tree in a dense forest.

The incident took place following Abdul Rahman’s disappearance on June 8, 2023, at approximately 15:00 GMT.

As hours turned into days without any sign of his return, a concerned community rallied together to form a search team in the hopes of finding the missing young man.

The search team consisted of dedicated individuals, including personnel from the Kakum National Park of the Wild Life Division stationed at Assin Kruwa.

Determined to bring Abdul Rahman home safely, they embarked on an arduous search mission through the forest.

Despite their efforts, their hopes were shattered when they stumbled upon Abdul Rahman’s lifeless body hanging from a tree.

The shocking scene revealed that a copper wire had been tied around his neck, suggesting a tragic end to his life.

Residents of Assin Kruwa, who shared their thoughts with the media, revealed a possible motive behind Abdul Rahman’s apparent suicide.

They speculated that he may have been burdened by the responsibility of a missing sum of Ghc3,500, which belonged to his employer.

As the money was entrusted to him, the weight of being held accountable for its disappearance could have overwhelmed him to the point of taking his own life.

This hypothesis added another layer of sadness to the already devastating discovery.

Kwaku Quansah, Abdul Rahman’s uncle and the respected Abusuapanin of the town, shed light on the search efforts that led to the discovery of his nephew’s body.

He explained that the decision to search the forest was made after exhaustive attempts by the community to locate Abdul Rahman had proven futile.

It was a difficult and heart-wrenching task, but the search team persisted in their mission to bring closure to Abdul Rahman’s family and loved ones.

Upon receiving the distressing news, the Nyankumasi Ahenkuro police swiftly arrived at the scene to handle the situation.

Their priority was to ensure the proper handling of evidence and to transport Abdul Rahman’s body to the Abura Dunkwa District Hospital Morgue.

There, the body would undergo necessary preservation measures and a postmortem examination to gather vital information about the circumstances surrounding his death.

Currently, the police are conducting a thorough investigation into the tragic incident. While the details are still being gathered, eyewitness accounts tend to support the theory of suicide, attributing it to the missing money.
