Kumasi traders to hit the streets
Emilia Kwofie, the Secretary of the Kumasi Central Market Traders Union, has announced their intention to protest against the government due to delays in phase two of the Kejetia Central Market redevelopment.
She mentioned that some traders have been unable to work since their relocation for the market’s construction. The union is in talks with the police to determine a demonstration date, hoping it will push authorities to resume work.

Despite the IMF loan disbursement, construction hasn’t started, and they’ve sought information from the mayor’s office, which has been unhelpful.
The Mayor, Samuel Pyne, couldn’t provide a specific restart date, citing ongoing discussions with the Finance Ministry and Ministry of Local Government regarding the project.
