Karela United likely to use Koforidua Sports Complex for 2023/24 football season

Karela United, also known as the Passioners, is considering the Koforidua Sports Complex as an alternative venue for their upcoming BetPawa Ghana Premier League campaign if the ongoing projects at Crosby Awuah Memorial Park and Axim Sports Complex are not completed on time.

The Club Licensing Board has already rejected the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park and the almost completed Axim Sports Complex, which cost $5 million USD to construct and will soon be handed over to the Nzema East Municipal Assembly.

The Axim Sports Complex, a project that started four years ago, is expected to be finished soon, while plans are being made to renovate the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park.

The Koforidua Sports Complex is one of the government’s initiatives to develop ten multi-purpose sports centers and is currently under construction.

To prepare for the 2023-24 season, which is scheduled to begin from September 15-18, 2023, the Passioners will start their pre-season training at the Winneba Sports College in the upcoming week.

Their season opener will be against Legon Cities at the El-Wak Sports Stadium.
