I Didn’t Give Phone Ban Directive – Bagbin

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has refuted claims that he has ordered a ban on cell phone use in the chamber.

“Mr. Speaker has not enacted such a rule prohibiting cell phone use in the House of Representatives. According to a statement from the Speaker’s office, no Member of Parliament has been barred from using his phone in the chamber.

According to the declaration, which was signed by Gayheart Edem Mensah, Director of Communication, members of the Press Corps who work from the Press Gallery have not also received a directive prohibiting them from using their phones while performing their duties as legislative reporters.

The statement also stated that “the Speaker’s Office remains open to the press for purposes of clarity on any matter of concern to them.”

The statement added, “We implore all sincere Ghanaians to avoid the incorrect and misleading publication, which aims to speak badly of the Rt. Hon. Speaker’s image and reputation by the erroneous assertion in the headline.
