Greater Accra NDC suspends Dumelo, Nuamah’s vetting

The Greater Accra Regional Vetting Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has postponed the vetting of Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency candidates John Dumelo and Fred Nuamah till further notice.

On Wednesday, April 5, the two candidates and others were scheduled to go through the screening process.

According to the Greater Accra Regional Communications Officer, the other five candidates would be thoroughly screened by Wednesday night.

The two parliamentary candidates are said to have failed to show up at the site for vetting, despite the fact that the party has not said why the vetting of the two candidates was suspended.

Nonetheless, the party has stated that it will make a decision regarding what to do when the vetting deadline of April 5 has passed.

Both Mr. Dumelo and Mr. Nuamah are actors who wish to pursue their political goals as representatives for the NDC in the Ayawaso West Wougon Constituency.

Mr. Dumelo made his first candidacy for office in the 2020 election, losing to Lydia Seyram Alhassan of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) by a very small margin.

The pursuit of the Ayawaso West Wuogon seat by Nuamah is seen by Dumelo as a betrayal of their friendship.

Yet, Mr. Nuamah believes he is free of any ill intent. He has also stated that Dumelo approved of his plan to challenge.
