GES cautions SHS heads against collection of clearance fees
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has issued a warning to Senior High Schools and Senior High Technical Schools (SHS/SHTS), advising them against collecting unauthorized fees from final year students during the clearance process.
The GES declared these actions as illegal and urged school heads to refund any such unauthorized fees collected.
This directive, conveyed in a press release signed by Prince Agyemang-Duah, Director of Schools Inspection and Instructions Division, also mentioned that school heads who engage in such practices will face consequences.

However, the statement clarified that schools should follow proper procedures to charge students for damaging or losing school property before clearing them.
Regional Directors of Education are instructed to ensure compliance with this directive among all SHS/SHTS heads for efficient school administration.
