Some mining equipment confiscated from illicit miners operating within forest reserves in the Ashanti Region was burned by the Forestry Commission (FC).

The Bunusu section of the Oda River Forest Reserve and the Koboro-Odaho section of the Apamprama Forest Reserves, both in the Bekwai Forest District, both saw the seizure of mining equipment.

Additionally, three Chinese who were arrested in December of last year and were engaged in unlawful mining in the Oda River Forest Reserve are currently being tried at the Bekwai Circuit Court.
