After that, Basic schools will be open through June 15, 2023. The second term will begin on June 27, 2023, and last until September 14, 2023, after which they will take a holiday from June 16, 2023 to June 26, 2023.

Before the second term ends, Basic Schools will have been in session for 10 weeks and 4 days.

The 2023 academic calendar has been created so that the current academic year would expire on September 15, 2023, for both basic schools and SHS. Prior to the Covid-19 outbreak in 2020, primary schools and SHS had their summer vacations in August or September. All schools, including university institutions, modified their academic calendars as a result of the pandemic’s emergence.

2023 Academic Calendar For Basic Schools

The Ghana Education Service is making every effort to bring back the previous academic year. Only 9 days will be spent at home in elementary schools. On Saturday, March 25, 2023, through Sunday, April 2, 2023, classes will be off.

As the BECE approaches, JHS 3 students have been asked to spend more time in their books.

According to WAEC, the registration portal will formally begin on Monday, March 27, 2023, and close on Friday, April 28, 2023.

All applicants must make sure that their bio data is appropriately entered and that they are registered for the appropriate subjects.

School administrators are urged to make sure that candidates are registered for the appropriate Basic Design Technologies and Ghanaian Language courses. Access arrangements will be made for candidates with special educational requirements, just like with the WASSCE (SC).

The 2023 BECE will officially begin on August 7 and run until August 11 of that year.

Exams will be written earlier this year than in prior years. The exam was given to applicants in 2022 from October 17 through October 21. The West African Examination Council has yet to announce the dates and times of its formal exams for prospective applicants.

Easter Break For All Basic Schools In Ghana

The 2023 BECE to be written in August will be the last examination for students using the old curriculum. In 2024, the standard base curriculum will be used for the examination. The GES has therefore directed all head teachers not to repeat any student who was in form two at the end of the 2022 academic year, since such a move will disadvantage such students.

Below is the expected 2023 BECE timetable based on the 2022 BECE. The timetable provided here does not come with the exact dates on which the various papers will be written because WAEC has not officially released the date for the examination.
