Joseph Agbeko-dogboe

Dogboe doesn’t need to change weight classes in 0rder to succeed, according to Joseph Agbeko

Joseph “King Kong” Agbeko, a former two-time bantamweight champion, has disregarded the idea that Ghanaian boxer Isaac Dogboe would once again move weight classes.

He stated this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports following Dogboe’s Saturday defeat to Cuban Robeisy Ramirez in a match for the WBO featherweight championship by unanimous decision.

Many have urged that Dogboe go up in weight class, but Agbeko has rejected the idea because Dogboe failed to bulk out to make weight in the super featherweight division while also struggling to lean out and make weight at super bantamweight.

“Isaac Dogboe competed at a weight at which he feels extremely comfortable. He was in pain and competing at super bantamweight. The hardest aspect of boxing is making weight, so he chose to switch to featherweight.

In featherweight rather than super bantamweight, he feels a little bit more at ease or better.

They should let him stay where he is because that is the weight he feels most comfortable at. He won’t benefit from moving up to super featherweight.
