Digital toll coming match – AMA
The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) will start issuing new receipts for payments of market and truck park tolls in the metropolis starting today, Friday, January 27, 2023.
The AMA also intends to roll out a new digital mechanism for collecting fees.
On January 26, 2023, Accra Mayor Elizabeth Kwatsoe Tawiah Sackey made this announcement while leading a workshop to inform local business owners on the introduction of new receipts for paying market and lorry park tolls.
Holograms are included in the new receipts to make it simple to identify the tickets that were purchased.
It is anticipated that the new digitalized revenue collecting system, which will be put into service in March of this year, will increase Assembly revenue and make payments easier.

Additionally, it will stop revenue leaks, lessen claimed corruption, encourage voluntary compliance, and create a favorable rate-paying environment.
The first female mayor of Accra, speaking to media, stated that the AMA was utilizing the government’s push toward digitalization to develop creative solutions to stop any revenue leaks, increase its domestically generated money, and decrease the human aspect.
The assembly has incorporated roughly 23 banks into the new platform for collecting taxes, according to the mayor, to give users a variety of payment alternatives.
“Ratepayers can equally pay their bills via mobile money on all networks, QR codes, and a USSD code,” the mayor stated. “Aside from using the banks.”
She added that prior to the launch of the new revenue collection system in March, all market vendors and traders in the city will be required to register and receive Special Quick Response (QR) codes for use in bill payment.
The Mayor exhorted the business community as a whole to embrace innovation in order to advance the Accra Metropolis.
Noble Atsu Ahadzie, the Metro Director of Budget, emphasized that ratepayers would receive invoices and receipts electronically without human intervention.
He promised that the Assembly would implement a thorough stakeholder engagement plan to guarantee that all parties are adequately informed prior to the launch of the digital revenue collecting system.
