Construction of Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange halted for IMF deal
The suspension of the Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange project in Accra has been attributed by Antwi Owusu Sekyere, the Resident Engineer for FAS Consult Limited, to the government’s negotiations with the International Monetary Fund.
The project aims to reduce traffic congestion at the intersection of Ring Road West and Winneba/Graphic Road by upgrading the traffic at Circle and constructing two flyovers to enable continuous traffic flow along Ring Road West.

According to Sekyere, work on the project is expected to resume in May, after the government completes negotiations with the IMF and other parties. Currently, there are skeletal staff at the site who water the area and reshape the road when needed, but the project has been suspended.
