Chairman Wontumi Chases Kennedy Agyapong With Police

Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has issued a warning that he will seek the arrest of fellow NPP member and presidential hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong, if Agyapong continues to make threats against his life.

Chairman Wontumi, as he is known, advised Agyapong to cease insults and personal attacks and focus on his campaign for the NPP.

This came in response to statements made by Kennedy Agyapong, where he accused Wontumi and the Vice President of destabilizing the NPP during a recent event in Kumasi.

Kennedy Agyapong had criticized Chairman Wontumi for supporting President Akufo-Addo over Alan Kyerematen and warned him against insults.

He also alleged that Wontumi and others had turned the National Council into a group promoting hooliganism.

Chairman Wontumi, in his response, expressed concern over the threats made by Agyapong and urged him to concentrate on his campaign for the NPP primaries.

He defended his decision to remove Alan Kyerematen’s campaign posters from party offices, emphasizing it was a matter of party discipline and not an insult toward Kyerematen.

Kennedy Agyapong is among the contenders for the NPP flagbearership, competing with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Francis Addai-Nimoh.
