Ashaiman MP To Sue Military Over Brutalities

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) are being sued for the injustice they committed against several citizens in the Municipality on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, according to the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ashaiman and some Assembly Members.

A legal team has been consulted by Ernest Henry Norgbey to handle the issue that is currently receiving media attention.

According to reports, the soldiers brutalized the locals in Ashaiman, an Accra suburb in the Greater Accra area.

Over 20 heavily armed soldiers entered the neighborhood early on Tuesday and began attacking locals, preventing them from even leaving their homes.

They continued to rampage through the streets and forbade everyone, including workers, from leaving. The soldiers were attacked after a 22-year-old soldier with the Ghana Armed Forces band was reportedly fatally stabbed by unidentified assailants early on Saturday morning in Sunyani, in the Bono Region.

According to sources, the sad situation happened when the soldier was returning from his girlfriend’s home in Taifa and moving toward his domicile in Zongo-Laka in Ashaiman.

While he was carrying a laptop and other technological devices, just his iPhone was taken by the assailants.

Authorities are currently seeking information from the public as they look into the circumstances surrounding the soldier’s death.

Prior to the conclusion of the police investigations, the MP for the area is meeting with the Assembly Members in the affected areas to engage the victims on how to sue the GAF. The meeting is coming off today within the area.
