41-year-old Nigerian jailed five years for human trafficking
Favour Blessing, a 41-year-old Nigerian living in Tamale, was given a five-year prison sentence by a Tamale circuit court for participating in forced prostitution and human trafficking.
The accused begged to the court for mercy before the judge, his Lordship, Alexander Oworae, delivered the verdict.
The judge, however, rejected her request to enter a plea because she believed the punishment would dissuade others from engaging in human trafficking.
She was then given a five-year prison term by him.

Police investigations indicate that the culprit was apprehended on Sunday, December 4, 2022, after chasing one of her victims who defied her commands through Tamale’s streets.
During the chase, the victim, who is also a citizen of Nigeria, sought shelter from a kind stranger who just so happened to be a police officer.
Further investigations revealed that the accused had been used the ruse of promising them jobs to traffic innocent victims from Nigeria to Ghana.
She moves back and forth between Savannah and the Northern areas, forcing her victims into prostitution.
