3,340 road crashes kill 544
According to the Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Ghana Police Service, there were 3,340 road accidents in the first quarter of 2023, with 544 fatalities.

This is a decrease of 15.06% compared to the same period in 2022.
The Greater Accra Region had the highest number of accidents at 1,243, while the Oti Region had the lowest at just 15.
