On February 7, 2023, Parliament will return from break, however the Minority bench of the House will have new members. Haruna Iddrisu, a Tamale South MP who has held the office since January 2017, has been replaced as the new Minority Leader by Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, an Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam representative.
Fourth-term Ghanaian MP Cassiel Ato Forson holds an Oxford education and has more than 20 years of experience as a highly accomplished professional. He holds a PhD in Finance from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), an MSc in Economics from the same institution, an MSc in Taxation from the University of Oxford, UK, and a BSc in Accounting from London South Bank University.
Forson is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation in Ghana as well as a chartered accountant.

His professional career has been distinguished by significant positions in Ghana’s government, including those of Deputy Minister of Finance from April 2013 to January 2017, Member of Ghana’s Economic Management Team, Board of Director of the Bank of Ghana, Board of Ghana Cocoa Board, and Alternate Governor of Ghana at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.
He spearheaded numerous campaigns to defend the public coffers while serving as ranking member on the finance committee, including the defeat of the objectionable electronic transactions charge and the controversial Agyapa agreement.
